Episode 60: RoboCop – The OCP Audit
What happens when people become line items in a corporate system?
In this episode of Documented, we use the RoboCop framework to examine corporate priorities, consumer accountability, and the documented concerns surrounding customer service and organizational decision-making.
Main Theme: People aren't line items. Accountability is the human safeguard.
Truthful or not, you're coming with me.

iKnowBadeaux Podcast Episode 401 Be Kind Rewind RoboCop

🚀 Jump into the Escape Pod and rewind to 1987 for one of the craziest movies ever made!
RoboCop.
This week on the iKnowBadeaux Podcast, Mayor Dave, Gabe, Scotty Pizza, and Jesse Huber dive headfirst into the absolute insanity of RoboCop—both on the screen and behind it.
🤖 On screen, you've got a dystopian Detroit, a corporation trying to privatize law enforcement, ED-209, Clarence Boddicker, ridiculous commercials, outrageous violence, and a cop who gets murdered and brought back as a freaking ROBOT.
And somehow... it all works.
But the story behind the movie may be even crazier.
🎬 We dig into the making of RoboCop, the risks the filmmakers took, the practical effects, the infamous violence, the bizarre humor, and all the strange decisions that somehow came together to create one of the most unique movies of the 1980s.
From "I'd buy that for a dollar!" to ED-209's complete inability to navigate stairs, RoboCop was unlike anything audiences had seen before—and we're breaking down exactly why.
It's violent.
It's hilarious.
It's satirical.
It's completely bonkers.
And underneath all that madness is a surprisingly sharp movie about corporations, consumerism, crime, television, and what it means to be human.
🎧 Hit play and find out how RoboCop went from completely insane idea to 80s cinematic classic.

Robocop (1987) (Reupload)

(Spotify for Podcasts is such a bad service that they've now taken to re-flagging episodes they've already flagged that have already been explicitly cleared of copyright violation by both their own investigation and the copyright holder himself. We're looking into returning to libysn as quickly as possible. Anchor.fm was good, spotify bought it, it is no longer good.)

Sometimes you just wanna watch an old favorite, you know? For us, that's Paul Verhoeven's 1987 genre-making classic, Robocop. Starring Peter Weller and Kurtwood Smith and made for a much smaller budget than you'd think, Robocop's a slim hundred minute satire of US corporatism and creates one of the most iconic characters in American sci-fi.

Set in the near future, Robcop contemplates an unthinkable world where an enormous corporation is endeavoring to gentrify major urban areas and replace human workers with AI, set against a backdrop of increasingly militarized police and privatized public services. Can you imagine?

Float along with the manatees as they enjoy this old favorite once again, snark about modern politics, and of course discuss child-rearing and the appropriate age at which ultra-violence can help a child be better adjusted, among other important topics. Float along and have a watch, it's Robocop.
